Today we’re going to master the art of podcast distribution. Let's learn how to make your podcast available everywhere and maximize your reach!
Podcast directories are platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music where people can discover, subscribe to, and listen to podcasts. Being on these platforms is crucial because it significantly increases your potential audience. It’s where most people search for new podcasts.
The first step to getting your show listed is to have a podcast RSS feed, which is auto generated for each new show on Castos. Each platform has its own submission process. For example, Apple Podcasts requires you to submit your podcast through Apple Podcast Connect, and Spotify has its Spotify for Podcasters. Castos unlocks Automated Distribution, emphasizing the ease of automatic distribution to major listening directories such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music. By publishing your episode once through Castos, it automatically distributes it across these platforms, simplifying the process and ensuring your podcast reaches a wide audience. Castos also offers an onboarding experience to help you submit to all directories. Once you’re ready, let us know and our team will help you distribute your podcast.
Ensure your podcast meets technical specs, like having the correct audio file format, image specifications for your cover art, and a well-written podcast description. Avoid rejections by double-checking that your content does not violate terms of service regarding copyrighted music or offensive content.
Consider using a distribution service that can automatically submit your podcast to multiple directories at once. Services like Castos offer this feature, saving you time and effort. Regularly update your podcast with new episodes and keep your content engaging to maintain a good standing and visibility on these platforms.
Once your podcast is on multiple platforms, use the analytics tools provided by your Castos to understand your audience better and optimize your content strategy.

Till next time, Happy Podcasting!
[00:00:00] Hey there. Welcome back to this how to start a podcast series. I'm Craig Hewitt from Kastos and today we are getting our podcast live. We've done a ton of work to get gear and to learn about our ideal listener Persona and to record and to edit. And now is the day our show is going live. So how do we do this from a very high level perspective? What we're going to do is we're going to open an account at a podcast hosting platform like Castos, Castos.com, start a free 14 day trial. You can go in and explore the platform. You can create one or multiple episodes, and that's what we're going to do. So we're going to create a podcast in castos. We're going to publish an episode, and once we've done that, we'll configure our RSS feed, which we talked about in one of the earlier videos, and then submit that RSS feed to places like Apple Podcasts and Spotify. So we have separate videos on how to do this and we'll link them in the description below and they'll be in the comments up here. But what we really want to make sure of here is that the high level steps are clear. So you get the gear, you record the content, you edit it, audio and or video, and then you publish that to your podcast hosting platform like castos. Once you've done that, then you have a valid RSS feed. And that RSS feed is the thing that you submit or link to platforms like Apple Podcast, Spotify and all of the different podcasting directories. This is how you get your show live and out there for your audience to discover. When it comes to launching your show, you want to wait until your podcast is live in each of these podcasting directories. Most of them are almost instantaneous. Some can take a few minutes or up to an hour, especially Apple podcasts. Each show in each directory will have a special link, and that's what you want to send people when you're promoting on your website and on email and on social media. Hey, go check out my show and Spotify. Here's the link. Check out my show and Apple podcast. Here's the link. Check out my show and overcast. Here's the link. So at a very high level, that's how you publish and distribute your podcast to all the popular podcasting directories like Apple Podcasts and Spotify. We have links in the description to much more detailed walkthroughs of each of these. Check it out in the next video, we're going to talk about how to create really great content. Stay tuned.
